As we gear up for the launch of Season 3 of the Trillion Mortgage CB TOUR, we’re reflecting on what’s fueled the tour’s rapid rise — and looking ahead to the innovations that will define its future.
Season 2 marked a defining chapter for the CB TOUR. We saw record participation, new champions emerge, and some of the most competitive fields we’ve ever assembled. Marquee events like the CB Masters and the CKSO delivered unforgettable moments, while our Challenge and Junior Series helped grow the game from the ground up.
With that growth came an opportunity: to lead the sport forward. The CB TOUR has always embraced performance-driven competition, and as our player base continues to evolve, we’re introducing a new advancement that sets us apart — the CB TOUR Index. This new system isn’t a reaction to a problem — it’s a reflection of our commitment to accuracy, equity, and progress. A smarter, more transparent way to reflect skill and unlock new formats for competition.
Introducing the CB TOUR Index
To address that, we’re proud to officially introduce the CB TOUR Index — a performance-based rating system that replaces average-only systems for determining division placement and calculating handicaps.
Much like GHIN in golf, the CB TOUR Index is based on differentials — a measure of how well you bowl compared to the field across a variety of environments. It’s designed to reflect a bowler’s potential, not just their scoring history on one pattern or in one center.
New Division Structure Based on Index
With the Index now fully integrated into the tour, we’re officially updating the Championship Series division structure:
Open Division:Â Bowlers with a CB TOUR Index of 3.0 or higher
Under Division:Â Bowlers with a CB TOUR Index of 2.9 or lower
This replaces the previous system that used a 205 USBC average or a 188 CB TOUR average to determine division placement. With the launch of the CB TOUR Index, we’re introducing a more modern, data-driven approach that better reflects the true skill distribution of our field. The result is a clearer, more consistent competitive experience for all bowlers — whether you're new to the tour or a returning contender.
For bowlers who don’t yet have a CB TOUR Index, one will be assigned using their USBC Standard average minus 17 pins — the measured gap between traditional house-shot scoring and the conditions typically seen on the CB TOUR.
To support our new Challenge Series and side bracket formats, we’ve also created a conversion table that links each Index value to a placeholder average, ensuring all handicaps (calculated at 75% of 220) remain fair and consistent across events.

What’s Next?
The Season 3 opener, the Trillion Mortgage Open, takes place August 8–10 in Lehi, Utah. We’ll be returning to several favorite venues — and we’re thrilled to announce that a brand new center will host an event during the second half of the season. Stay tuned for details.
The CB TOUR Index marks a major step forward in performance-based competition and modern tournament structure. We believe this system not only positions us for continued growth — it sets a new standard for what tournament bowling can look like.
Let’s bowl.
