The CB TOUR heads into its final stop of Season 3 with the tightest points race the tour has ever seen.
After capturing the title at the Freeway Pro Shop Classic in Grand Junction, Morgan Robinson moved into the points lead and now sits atop the standings with 2,435 points, holding just a 10-point advantage over Andy Kinney.
The two have battled near the top of the standings all season, and Robinson’s victory over Kinney in the title match in Grand Junction only tightened the race further. With one event remaining, the Player of the Year race will be decided at the CB TOUR Championship.
Just behind them sits Chase Nadeau with 2,400 points, but Nadeau will not be competing in the final event. His absence effectively narrows the title race and places even greater emphasis on the showdown between Robinson and Kinney.
Several others still have mathematical paths, but they will need help.
Kyle Morrison, currently fourth with 2,040 points, remains alive in the race. Morrison could still capture the points title if he wins the Tour Championship while Robinson and Kinney finish no better than fourth and do not collect bonus points. With Morrison already holding 250 bonus points, the highest total among the contenders, he has proven all season that he can gain ground quickly during match play.
Jayden Miller, sitting fifth with 1,986 points, also remains technically in contention. Miller would need a victory at the CB TOUR Championship combined with Robinson and Kinney finishing fifth or worse, to give himself a path to the title.
Beyond that, players such as Giorgio Clinaz, Cameron Henning, Duncan Whitaker, and Braydn Linke would need early exits from Robinson and Kinney along with deep runs of their own. In many cases, that would likely require both leaders to fall outside the top 18 and lose in the opening round of bracket play.
In other words, while several names remain alive mathematically, the championship will most likely be decided by how Robinson and Kinney perform under pressure in the final event.
And with the closest points race in CB TOUR history, the margin for error is almost nonexistent.
Rookie of the Year Race
While the Player of the Year battle will command most of the attention, another tight race is unfolding just behind it.
The Rookie of the Year race remains extremely close between Braydn Linke (1,310 points), Ryan Howard (1,255), Jordan Katz (1,220), and Brock Baker (1,135).
Linke currently holds the advantage, but with one event remaining, a single deep run could easily swing the award in the final stop of the season.
The Top 16 Cut
There is also significant movement possible around the Top 16 in the standings.
Players like Steve Kloempken (1,091) and Lizzy Rees (1,075) currently sit just outside the cut line and will be looking to climb into the cashing positions with a strong finish at the Tour Championship.
With several bowlers separated by only small margins in the middle of the standings, even a modest run could shift multiple spots before the season concludes.
A Thank You to the Community
Season 3 has been a season of growth, experimentation, and learning for the CB TOUR. Along the way there have been challenges. Partnerships changed, schedules shifted, new venues were explored, and we experimented with a variety of oil patterns, some that worked better than others. Through all of it, the core idea behind the CB TOUR has never changed.
The goal has never been to “fix” bowling. The game itself is already beautiful. Our goal has always been to highlight the best parts of it by creating an environment where competition matters, where bowlers are pushed to adapt, and where the sport is showcased in places it may not have traditionally reached.
That philosophy has meant trying new formats, experimenting with different conditions, and occasionally stepping into the unknown. It has not always been perfect, but it has always been different, and every event has helped us learn something new about how to continue improving the tour.
One of the biggest leaps this season was traveling to Grand Junction for the Freeway Pro Shop Classic. Heading into that event, there were plenty of unknowns. What we experienced instead was one of the most memorable stops the CB TOUR has ever had.
The support from the Grand Junction bowling community was incredible. The energy in the building, the hospitality, and the excitement around the event made it something truly special. Had it not been for the bowlers and fans in Grand Junction, things might look quite a bit different right now. We are extremely grateful to the community there and to the team at Freeway Bowl for welcoming the tour and helping make that event what it became.
Looking Ahead to Season 4
As Season 3 comes to a close, attention naturally begins to turn toward what comes next.
Many of you know that Kenzi and I have both transitioned into new daytime roles, and those positions have required significantly more of our time than our previous roles. For me personally, the goal has always been to grow the game of bowling, and the position I am now in is exactly where I believe I can make the biggest impact toward that goal.
Because of that transition, details surrounding Season 4 have understandably been limited so far. But that does not mean the work has stopped. Behind the scenes we are continuing to build the schedule, develop new partnerships, and work toward bringing the level of prize funds and competition that you have come to expect from the CB TOUR.
There is still more to come, and while we are not ready to share all of the details yet, we can promise one thing: a brand new venue announcement is on the way.
And when you see it, it will blow your mind.
Season 3 comes down to one final event.
One last chance.
And the closest points race in CB TOUR history waiting to be decided.
